Breakthrough Breast Cancer
Breakthrough Breast Cancer is a vital organisation in the struggle against breast cancer, one of the most virulent and widespread forms of cancer. Located at the Institute of Cancer Research, Breakthrough Breast Cancer was formed in 1986 with the aim of reforming our approach and attitude to dealing with breast cancer. By focusing on a coordinated research method and unified aims, Breast Cancer Breakthrough strives to be the primary centre of excellence in combating rising breast cancer rates across the UK.
We all know there are many treatments for different cancers. Some are more successful than others and most have varied side effects. There are options for support and care in many instances of cancer diagnosis, however, we are drastically lacking in knowledge on the causes of these cancers. Breakthrough puts a lot of time and effort into understanding the causes of breast cancer so we can prevent illnesses before they have a chance to set in. They have initiated the huge undertaking of surveying 100,000 women, taking blood samples and following up each person for 50 years. This will give us a far greater understanding of the lifestyles and health issues that lead women to be more susceptible to breast cancer. Obviously, this is a huge project that requires a great deal of financial backing to see it through. With our donations, we can be sure that the survey is complete and all the information is gathered and analysed. This could save countless lives if it goes any way to stopping the spread of breast cancer in its tracks.
Recently, Brakthrough Breast Cancer has begun a ‘Talk TLC’ campaign to encourage women to check themselves regularly for the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. With over 45,000 women being diagnosed with breast cancer every year, new developments are vital in slowing the growth of this disease. Now is the time we must do our part to fight our more widespread killer. Please take a look at our donations choices to see just what options Breakthrough Breast Cancer has on offer for you to give as a charity gift.
