Cafod
CAFOD, or the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development, is a government and donation funded charity aimed at a reduction in the number of poverty-stricken communities in less economically developed countries. CAFOD relies on funding from the Catholic population of the United Kingdom to carry out its work on such a large scale. They put a strong emphasis on the equality of humanity and the rights of every individual around the world. They have campaigned tirelessly to bring an end to discrimination and raise the standard of living for so many of those who are trapped below the poverty line in third world countries. Whether rich or poor, CAFOD wants to ensure no one is excluded in their struggle to change humanity for the better, encouraging solidarity and standardising education so every poor child is given the opportunity they deserve. They also do a large amount of work in combating climate change and encouraging the use of sustainable forms of energy and resources.
For just a small donation, you can give someone the gift of knowing a family is drinking clean water, free from Cholera and other killer diseases. As you can see on the CAFOD website, your charity can help set up one of the simple water filters that we take for granted. One of these filters can help prevent the deaths of children forced to drink dirty, putrid water. The first step towards CAFOD’s quest for equality is to provide for the basic needs of every human being on the planet.
CAFOD initiated a ‘Home for Homeless’ scheme which has seen vast successes in Brazil, where vast numbers of children are stuck sleeping on the streets, resorting to crime to survive. It is through this scheme that these children have a new future opened up to them; a future in which hunger, the cold streets and crime are but a distant memory. This kick-start to life has helped many children, but there are still thousands living in squalor. With your help and financial backing, CAFOD can bring these children in from the cold and set them on their way to a normal life. Give a gift of a donation on someone’s behalf and you are giving the gift of a future for people who would otherwise be caught in the constant worry of where there next safe meal is coming from.
