RSPB
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has been safeguarding endangered species of birds for over 100 years, although in more recent years, their focus has widened to the general protection of the environment. The RSPB is the largest organisation promoting the protection of wildlife in Europe and has worked tirelessly to bring many species back from the brink of extinction. They have employed real hands-on tactics, especially with petitions and the creation of nature reserves, to act on behalf of the animal, who have no voice without us.
The RSPB is responsible for the end of the mass use of birds’ feathers in clothing, saving hundreds of thousands of animals from unnecessary deaths. Because of their prominence in the field of conservation, the RSPB is one of the groups responsible for the list setting out the status of endangered species. This is an incredibly demanding task and requires huge amounts of administration, research and constant updating to make sure every one of the poor birds at risk is looked out for. Your gift to someone can help keep the RSPB running, giving humanity the gift of species of birds that would otherwise be extinct.
If you want, you can give a donation to a specific cause, if you think they would be more suitable for the person you are buying the gift for. Right now, the RSPB is taking on one of the greatest conservation challenges out world has ever seen; the Save the Sumatran rainforest appeal. Just a small donation to this scheme and you are contributing to the preservation of many unique species of birds and animals, and an ecosystem with some of the most wonderful plant life on the planet. The RSPB also has a Sponsor a Species appeal, giving you the chance to engrain yourself in the future of a whole species of birds, like our very own Puffin. A donation to a charity like the RSPB brings benefits to our own country, as well as the rest of the world. Their work is incredibly effective but also very costly. If the person you are looking to buy a present for is a bird lover too, a donated gift to the RSPB is the perfect chance to give back to the country we live in and take so much from. Without our help, these endangered species will completely cease to exist. Save the birds and change the future for the better!
