The National Trust
The National Trust has stood by its key aims of preserving areas of beauty and historic interest since 1895. They attracted huge amounts of interest over the years and have grown to be one of the largest membership organisations in the world. They rely heavily on donations and subscription fees from members to keep up the terrific work they have done for so long. As a volunteer organisation, the National Trust relies on the support of the public to help achieve their aims of the preservation of some of the UK’s most important and beautiful areas.
Just take a quick glance at the National Trust website and you will be overwhelmed by the amount of important projects and activities the organisation has undertaken in recent years. You can even look for important areas of national interest in your local area, or find out the most visited areas in the UK that the National Trust is responsible for the protection and maintenance of. We all benefit from these fantastic achievements and it is almost certain that somewhere you know of has received some form of support from the organisation. Take, for instance, the Abbey Road recording studio. We all know of the fantastic music of the Beatles, and most agree it would be a great shame if this iconic recording studio (which provided the inspiration and location for the recording of the classic Abbey Road album), were to close. The National Trust takes great interest in these cases and has provoked considerable debate in its future. This is just one example of the thousands of cases that arise each year for the National Trust to consider, and, through tireless work and raising the public profile of each case, we still have the option to visit these areas of natural beauty and cultural hot spots.
As our society changes and develops, it is important that we hold on to the beautiful and historic landmarks we have to remind us of our past. We should not take these areas for granted and must always remember the importance of our heritage. Please take a look at the National Trust website, find out about their fantastic work and consider a donation to help preserve some of the hidden wonders of the United Kingdom.
